Bumper Nuts states that these are drop forged aluminum. This process evidently causes two very large cavities in the back, just like a half shell. This drop forged shell of aluminum stands about eight (8") inches tall, four (4") inches wide and about one (1") inch thick. Bumper Nuts states the various colors are achieved as a result of powder coating the product and therefore producing a durable finish.
